THE STAND artists come and go. At times they stop by often, with work or just to chat and other times they disappear for years. Haider is an artist that found me one night. He would sit outside The Stand drinking his holy water drawing trees and then throw the drawings inside The Stand, I have many. Originally from Pakistan he would attend Columbia University and earned a Masters degree in Journalism, he became a writer for human rights issues at the UN Nations. That summer he was spending hours and hours in the parks in New York City. He began to draw the trees and the people that lived in the trees, he said I am in love with trees! I do not know how a man wondering the world, temporarily picks up some cardboard and a marker and captures the essence of these mighty giants.
